Independent advice on high-performance, energy-efficient housing — for new builds, renovations and retrofits. Grounded in engineering, passive house design, and lived experience.
Enquire about your projectPoorly insulated, poorly oriented housing costs Australians in comfort, health and energy long after the last brick is laid. Good building physics — thought through early — fixes that at the source.
I bring an engineering background, formal passive house training, and ten years of first-hand experience designing and building my own high-performance home to every project, whatever its scale or budget.
Passive house principles, orientation and glazing advice from concept stage, before decisions get locked in.
Practical, prioritised upgrades for existing homes — insulation, sealing, glazing and ventilation.
Computer modelling and visualisation of performance, plus ongoing monitoring to prove real-world results.
Clear reporting for builders, developers and councils, drawing on measured, lived-in results.
Building new or renovating, and want a home that's comfortable and cheap to run — without needing to become an expert yourself.
Looking for a genuine point of difference on thermal comfort and running costs, backed by real modelling and data.
Interested in pilot projects, monitoring programs, or evidence to support better local housing standards.
Tell me a little about what you're planning — new build, renovation, or something else — and I'll get back to you to arrange a chat.

I'm a mechanical engineer and certified passive house consultant based in Sydney, with a background across complex systems design and product integration in industry.
Over ten years, my own experience designing, refining and finally building our family's high-performance home — touching on passive house, water-sensitive design, on-site generation and storage — showed me just how little specialised, independent advice is available to most homeowners and builders in Australia.
Habitat Advisory grew out of that experience: a practical, engineering-led advisory service to help others build and retrofit homes that are healthier, cheaper to run, and better suited to our climate.
Every home begins with its context — the climate, the site, the budget, and the people who'll live there. I favour proven building physics over trends: orientation, insulation, airtightness and ventilation done well, before anything more elaborate is considered.
Wherever possible, I back recommendations with modelling and real measured data, not just theory — because the point is a home that performs the way it was designed to, once you're actually living in it.
